In a city famous for great restaurants this is one of the greatest. There are more hip and modern spots, but Irene,'s has been doing it right for decades. Beautiful classic decor. White shirted, servers in black aprons are quick, sometimes funny, pleasant and friendly. Food is inventive and exquisite. Gumbo (a special) was the best I have had, just slightly spicy and tasty. Chrispy duck with pecans and raspberry glaze is always delicious. I want to go back again and again.

Intimate dining experience surrounding by couples - missing my dear Lisa E., who recommended Irene's based on Yelp reviews. Service par excellence. Well made Sazerac. Tonight's special beet salad, goat cheese purée, arugula perfectly dressed. Duck was crispy, moist and rich, paired well with the recommended Montepulciano. Sipping the remainder if my Sazerac, content and too full for dessert. On to a nearby Jazz hall!

A few years ago (January 2020), my wife and I met this local couple and after enjoying music drinks and dancing with them, we excused ourselves because we were hungry... they inquired where we planned to eat but also recommended a couple places and we opted to take their suggestion of IRENE'S. It was late but Irene's was still busy and had no free tables but the hostess said she noticed there was hi-top table in the bar area... we took it. We enjoyed our food (shared a CESAR SALAD and then LASAGNA for me and SHRIMP FETTUCCINE for the wife plus CHEESECAKE for dessert)... And an hour and a half later, we were leaving full of delicious food and discussions of returning next year on our yearly New Orleans visit. And the manager comped the Cheesecake and even brought us some Prosecco to enjoy an anniversary toast. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Our yearly trips to NOLA were delayed because of COVID... but we are finally back and of course we came to Irene's. We arrived at the restaurant (with a reservation / highly recommended), and when asked if it were a special occasion we told them our wedding anniversary. They offered us a table in the bar area instead of the dining room table they had reserved because we would be right by the live piano player and it's not too loud either. We accepted the location change AND GLAD WE DID. My wife and I loved our server and the performer was very entertaining (talking and singing along with playing the piano). We especially loved our food... We shared an order of MUSSELS MARINARA (excellent dish and the toast that comes with it is so good it doesn't even need the mussels marinara / it's that good). I had their LASAGNA BOLOGNESE and my wife had their SAN FRANCISCO STYLE CIOPPINO... both were excellent. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A couple days later, another couple came to New Orleans to celebrate with us and we loved our last dinner so much that we made another reservation.... SAME TABLE ! We repeated the MUSSELS MARINARA, which everyone loved... and we also had an order of ESCARGOT, which was also very good. My wife decided to give their WHOLE FISH DAILY SPECIAL a try and she was happy happy happy. I went with their LAMB PROVENCE (and loved it). Our friends enjoyed their main dishes, DUCK ST PHILIP and MEUNIÈRE AMANDINE. I tried his Duck..... and I can say for sure, I loved my dinner but this was my favorite dish on the table. AND once again, the manager comped us dessert for our anniversary. This time we shared a CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE CAKE. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I can easily say we are big fans.... and look forward to returning soon.

What a lovely atmosphere I have experienced in Irene's with some real candle in every table and wonderful piano music playing throughout the night! Definitely a spot for a romantic dinner date. The food and drinks were very tasty. I have never had a turtle soup before, but it was so delicious. It's actually tastes like a ground beef in my opinion. Our server was David that night and he couldn't be more attentive and provided such a great service. A highly recommend restaurant in NOLA to visit!

David blew the top off of my NOLA gluten free expectations! I wish I could eat everything, but this is my cross to bear....it was no problem here. Only the freshest oysters and steak in my face. I just wanted to have dinner- I'm in a room surrounded by angels (not the statues ....i meant the staff).

This might be one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. Everything was perfect- the atmosphere, the service, the food, the care- they really strive for giving you the best experience possible. The interior is a beautiful rustic Italian scene, with different rooms having their own personality and plenty of little details you could stare at forever. We made reservations and were sat immediately in a room by ourselves. I wish I remembered our waitress's name because she was delightful. She made us feel like royalty, incredibly nice, very helpful, attentive but didn't hover, knew every nook and cranny of the menu and each dish. The few others who brought us food and drinks were funny and very nice. You could tell people love being here. The food- I cannot believe how perfect each dish came out. We started with the watermelon salad and escargot- both balanced perfectly without any one flavor being too overpowering. I ordered the Ossobuco and it truly fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. The portion looks small but I couldn't even finish half. The saffron risotto that came with it was moist and full of flavor. We ordered multiple drinks, two appetizers, two entrees, and desert (the cheesecake is not like all those cookie cutter frozen slices, it's to die for) and our bill was close to $150- way cheaper than we expected! Can't wait to come back, it's truly a jewel and so unassuming.

Title: Charming Atmosphere and Exceptional Service I recently visited this old-fashioned restaurant and was impressed by the exceptional service and charming ambiance. We were attended to by two servers who checked on us constantly, always wearing a smile. The Italian food was good, and the location had an interesting vibe that reminded me of New York. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to others looking for a delightful dining experience. La Tenedor! @peluchese
